There’s a new Indian restaurant in town, called the Copper Bowl. Located right off the freeway in downtown Salt Lake City (on 600 South and 214 West), the restaurant is owned by the same people as Tandoor Grill in Holladay. Like Tandoor, Copper Bowl offers a daily buffet and dosas, a harder-to-find Indian dish.
I visited the new restaurant a few weeks ago to try the lunch buffet (along with a few appetizers). The owner explained that the restaurant’s food is inspired from the Deca region of India and differs from Tandoor Grill by focusing more toward street foods (like dosas). The Copper Bowl has a cozy, classy feel to it while still having plenty of seating. Plus there is a private room available for large parties and events.
Just six days after opening, the lunch buffet and dosa were outstanding. I’m anxious to try the Copper Bowl for dinner, especially the rum chops (I hear they are fantastic!).
