It had been far too long since I paid a visit to my favorite restaurant, Pago. Luckily my friend Eve, who has made a name with her food reviews on Yelp and just started a food blog (keep this one on your radar; it’ll have great things to come!), invited me to Pago for brunch on Saturday.
While the dinner menu at Pago constantly evolves, the brunch menu has stayed the same for quite some time. But don’t worry, it’s still a well-rounded menu and the chef makes daily tweaks to the staples, adding enough of a flair to keep them interesting. I ordered the Chicken Hash, described on the menu as pulled chicken, pancetta, goat cheese, mascarpone, and sun-dried tomatoes.
The chicken hash reminds me of a crab cake in its construction. It has shredded chicken mixed with potatoes and green onions, all formed into a deliciously rich, cake-like patty and topped with a rich, creamy sauce. The sauce had a slight tomato flavor, complemented with chunks of spinach. The dish is filling both in the amount of food and its richness, but its uniqueness will keep you craving more!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I highly recommend Pago–for brunch or dinner! You will not be disappointed.
