Love & Travel (And Off to Spain & France!)

Wings of a plane in the setting sun.
Bon voyage!

My favorite question to ask anyone in love is the simple story of the beginning of their coupledom: “How did you two meet?”  The answer always elicits an immediate glow, a spark if you will, as the story unfolds of how two people came into each other’s lives.  Most people mention fate or serendipity; there seems to be a common underlying theme, albeit unsaid, that meeting each other was meant to be.

Traveling has always provoked feelings similar to love in my heart.  Maybe because I love to travel or perhaps because traveling has filled the void of a relationship for the past few years.  Either way, the more I explore the world, the more I enjoy hearing the stories of those who have gone on adventures of their own.  I suppose those in love find joy in reminiscing with others in love.

The 40,000 torii gates at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been.

Whenever I speak with other travelers, whether they’re novice or experts, I always ask about their favorite places and what inspired them to venture there.  Just like a lover lighting up at the memory of meeting his or her counterpart for the first time, a traveler, too, beams at the story of discovering their favorite place.

As a listener to these lovers’ stories, both of people and places, its obvious that words will never fully convey what is so meaningful about them.  But seeing people fill up with love and struggle in expression because of overwhelming emotion is always something that makes me smile.

Today I leave for yet another adventure.  This time I’m set to experience Spain and France via Barcelona, Madrid, Paris and Champagne with my friend Heather.  We’re planning to explore the history, culture and most importantly, the food.  It’s my first time in Europe and I’m ecstatic!

Follow our adventure on instagram, where I’ll be posting plenty of pictures throughout our trip!  And feel free to send us any recommendations.

Bon voyage!
